Travelling by Train | Conference Ticket

The conference ticket by Deutsche Bahn

Infinite Science GmbH, in cooperation with Deutsche Bahn, offers the conference ticket at a fixed price independent of the route length. There are two possible options: Booking either a ticket with a fixed train connection or a fully flexible ticket. The booking is made online, payment is made by credit card. This ticket is only valid for train travel within Germany.

Arrival by plane and airport transfer

Airport Hamburg is the closest Airport. From there, you may take the S-Bahn S1 to Hamburg Main Station followed by a train to Lübeck (see or Public Transportation). The journey from Hamburg Airport to Lübeck Central Station should take about 1.5 hours.

Individual transfer from the airport
We would be pleased to assist you in booking an individual transfer from/to Hamburg Airport (HAM). The cost for a one-way trip is 115 Euro, for a two-way trip 210 Euro. The costs are per trip (regular car), not per person. The prices are exclusive of the applicable value added tax.

Please send us an e-mail with the following information for a booking:

  • Number of persons and names
  • Outward flight: flight number, date and time, airport of departure
  • Return flight: flight number, date and time, destination airport
  • Mobile number for on-site contact

We would book the transfer for you and confirm it by e-mail. You will be picked up at Hamburg Airport at the meeting point of the arrival area in Terminal 2.

Airport Frankfurt (FRA)
If you fly to Frankfurt (FRA), you can book the conference ticket of the German railway to Lübeck from there.The train journey from Frankfurt Airport to Lübeck takes about 5 hours.

Travelling by Car

Parking Spots

Parking is available in the car park opposite the office building on Maria-Goeppert-Str. 1 and in the UKSH visitor car park on Ratzeburger Allee. Both multi-storey car parks are fee required.

Visa and Invitation letter

General Information

The documents you need to enter the Federal Republic of Germany vary depending on where you are from. More information can be found at the Federal Foreign Office - Visa regulations.

Invitation Letter

Participants that require an official letter of invitation in order to obtain a visa, to raise travel funds or for administrative purposes should apply for this invitation by at least 8 weeks prior to the meeting at the very latest. It should be understood, however, that such an invitation is not a commitment on the part of the organisers to provide financial support. 

It should be understood that the organisers can only issue an invitation which includes the period of the conference plus the Saturdays and Sundays directly before and after the conference, respectively.

Please note:
The letter of invitation will be sent to you electronically as a scanned document (.pdf-format) to the e-mail address provided by you.
Should it be necessary (e.g. because of visa regulations) to send the original letter of invitation by post, the participant has to bear all costs for the postal dispatch. For this purpose the participant will receive a separate invoice from the organizer. The participant will be provided with a tracking number for tracing purposes after the letter of invitation has been sent.

In order to request a letter of invitation for your visa-application, please send an email to, including the following information: Salutation, Academic title, First name, Surname, E-Mail, Invoice number from registration, Institution, Department, Street Adress, ZIP Code, City, Country. Please note that you need to be already registered to the conference.
